for Fall 2026

We never want parents to feel pressured to choose a childcare center based solely on affordability. We want you to choose a center they truly love. Due to this, a matched tuition rate equal to any group childcare center in Merrimack will be honored. (Yearly increases will be applied in September)
Wire Road - Jr. PreK
Kids who miss the Kindergarten cut off
About Our Classroom
Welcome to our Junior Pre-K Classroom, where growing minds, expanding independence, and exciting new challenges prepare children for their next big adventure!
Our Junior Pre-K Classroom is a unique program thoughtfully designed for children who miss the kindergarten age cutoff and would benefit from a more individualized progression through their preschool years.
Rather than having children repeat two years of Preschool or two years of traditional Pre-K, our Junior Pre-K program provides an important stepping stone between the two.
This classroom offers children the opportunity to continue advancing academically, socially, and emotionally while learning alongside peers at a similar developmental stage.
We recognize that children who miss the kindergarten cutoff are often ready for new challenges but still have another year before entering kindergarten. Our Junior Pre-K program keeps learning fresh, exciting, and appropriately challenging without unnecessarily repeating the same curriculum.
Our dedicated teachers create an engaging, nurturing, and structured environment where children can build confidence, develop independence, strengthen friendships, and continue progressing toward kindergarten readiness.
Our goal is simple: Every child deserves a year of meaningful growth, not a year of repeated learning!
Learning Through Exploration & Academic Growth
Our daily activities are thoughtfully designed to encourage:
-
Early Literacy & Phonics: Strengthening letter recognition, exploring beginning letter sounds, recognizing rhyming words, identifying syllables, building vocabulary, and developing early reading readiness.
-
Writing & Fine Motor Development: Practicing name recognition and writing, strengthening pencil grip, tracing letters and shapes, using scissors, drawing detailed pictures, and developing pre-writing skills.
-
Early Math & Number Concepts: Recognizing numbers, counting with one-to-one correspondence, exploring patterns, sorting, comparing quantities, identifying shapes, and introducing simple addition and subtraction concepts through play.
-
Language & Communication: Speaking in complete sentences, asking thoughtful questions, retelling stories, participating in group discussions, and expressing ideas with confidence.
-
Social & Emotional Development: Building meaningful friendships, practicing teamwork, recognizing emotions, developing empathy, strengthening problem-solving skills, and learning positive conflict-resolution strategies.
-
Science & Discovery: Exploring nature, weather, seasons, plants, animals, simple experiments, and hands-on investigations that encourage curiosity and critical thinking.
-
Creative Expression: Encouraging imagination through art, music, dramatic play, storytelling, building, and creative projects.
-
Independence & Responsibility: Developing self-help skills, following multistep directions, managing belongings, completing classroom responsibilities, and building confidence in everyday routines.
A Day in Our Classroom
Our days are filled with discovery, creativity, friendship, and exciting learning opportunities!
Children participate in a thoughtful balance of teacher-guided instruction, small-group learning, hands-on activities, and child-led exploration.
Our daily experiences include morning meetings, early literacy and phonics activities, math exploration, science investigations, creative art, sensory experiences, music and movement, outdoor play, and imaginative learning centers.
We gradually introduce more structured learning opportunities while preserving the play-based experiences that are essential to early childhood development.
Children are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, solve problems, work together, and take pride in their accomplishments.
Our classroom provides just the right balance of academic enrichment, social development, and independence to keep children engaged and excited about learning.
A Unique Bridge Between Preschool & Pre-K
What makes our Junior Pre-K Classroom special is its intentional place in our early learning program.
We understand that kindergarten eligibility dates do not always align with a child's developmental readiness or academic abilities.
Our Junior Pre-K program creates a natural progression:
Preschool 3's
Building early foundations through play, exploration, and social development
Junior Pre-K
Bridging the gap with new challenges, growing independence, and advancing early academic skills
Pre-K
Strengthening kindergarten readiness, confidence, and school preparation
Kindergarten
Ready for the next big adventure!
Rather than repeating classroom experiences, children are introduced to new learning goals, expanded responsibilities, and developmentally appropriate challenges each year.
Our Junior Pre-K curriculum builds on previously learned skills while introducing concepts that prepare children for the expectations of our Pre-K program.
We believe that an additional year before kindergarten should be an opportunity to grow, explore, and thrive!
Building Independence & Leadership Skills
As children become more confident in their abilities, we encourage them to take greater ownership of their learning and classroom responsibilities.
Our teachers provide opportunities for children to practice decision-making, follow classroom routines, complete multistep tasks, and develop important self-help skills.
Children begin taking on simple classroom jobs, caring for learning materials, helping classmates, and developing pride in their accomplishments.
We encourage children to become confident problem-solvers, thoughtful friends, and active participants in their classroom community.
Strengthening Friendships & Emotional Confidence
Our Junior Pre-K Classroom places a strong emphasis on social and emotional development.
At this stage, children are developing more complex friendships, learning to navigate group situations, and becoming increasingly aware of the feelings and perspectives of others.
Our teachers help children practice cooperation, patience, kindness, empathy, and positive communication.
Through group projects, cooperative games, classroom discussions, and everyday interactions, children develop the skills needed to build healthy relationships and feel confident in new social environments.
We believe that emotional readiness is just as important as academic readiness when preparing children for kindergarten.
Preparing for the Next Step: Pre-K
Our Junior Pre-K program is designed to help children continue moving forward without feeling rushed or held back.
Throughout the year, we focus on strengthening foundational skills while introducing new challenges that prepare children for our traditional Pre-K classroom.
Children develop greater confidence in letter recognition, early phonics, number concepts, writing, communication, problem-solving, and independent learning.
By the time children transition into Pre-K, they will have had opportunities to build upon their knowledge, strengthen their social skills, and develop a positive attitude toward more advanced learning experiences.
Our approach ensures that each classroom offers something new, exciting, and meaningful.
Exploring Nature & the World Around Us
We believe that some of the most valuable learning experiences happen through exploring the world around us!
Our Junior Pre-K classroom incorporates nature-inspired learning through seasonal investigations, gardening, outdoor exploration, weather observations, hands-on science, and creative projects.
Children are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, observe changes, and discover how the natural world works.
These experiences help develop critical thinking, creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for learning.
Our Promise to Families
We understand that missing the kindergarten cutoff can leave families wondering what the best educational path looks like for their child.
Our Junior Pre-K program was created to provide a thoughtful solution — an additional year of purposeful learning that allows children to continue progressing without repeating the same preschool or Pre-K experience.
We are committed to providing a warm, welcoming, and academically engaging environment where every child feels supported, challenged, and celebrated.
Through individualized attention, open communication, and strong family partnerships, we help children develop the confidence and foundational skills needed for continued success.
